Last year, her stepson Tyler Campanella was arrested and charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol after Trump was defeated in the 2020 presidential election.

In his indictment, the FBI referenced an Instagram post made by Flicker that showed Campanella inside the Capitol during the riots, The Washington Post reported

The caption, accompanied by a StopTheSteal hashtag, read: “I love patriots so much. Stay safe Tyler. We love you.”

Campanella pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor charges, but the case was dropped after Trump took office and pardoned individuals convicted of or facing charges related to the 2021 riot.

After the announcement of her Holocaust Museum board appointment, Flicker posted on social media thanking Trump.

“President Trump… Thank you for the privilege & honor to represent and NEVER FORGET,” she wrote.

The Nexus Project, an NPO dedicated to fighting antisemitism, said Flicker should not have been appointed.

“Serving on the Holocaust Memorial Museum board is a sacred duty. Sigalit Flicker’s support for a January 6th rioter disqualifies her from that role,” they posted on X.

“Her appointment is a slap in the face to Holocaust survivors and their families.”

Trump has now completed his selections for a new Holocaust Memorial Museum board.

Those serving are Flicker, Tila Falic, Jackie Zeckman, Rabbi Nate Segal, Jonathan Burkan, Lee Lipton, Betty Schwartz, Fred Marcus, Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz, Sid Rosenberg, Ariel Abergel, Barbara Feingold, Alex Witkoff, and Robert Garson.

In a Truth Social post, he wrote: “They are all strong supporters of Israel, and will ensure we, NEVER FORGET. Congratulations to all!”

Rosenberg, a controversial American radio personality, was appointed last week and welcomed Trump’s new announcements.

Trump dismissed several Biden appointees from the board last month

“Thank you @realdonaldtrump for this once in a lifetime tremendous honor,” he said.

“It makes it even sweeter to have dear friends like @siggyflicker and Tila Falic on the Council fighting with me! Now the work begins! Let’s go!”

At the end of last month, Trump dismissed several Biden appointees from the board who were expected to serve for five years.

Among them were Emhoff, Biden’s first chief of staff Ron Klain, former labor secretary Tom Perez, and former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice, who led a major national strategic effort to counter antisemitism as Biden’s top domestic policy adviser.

At the time, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “President Trump looks forward to appointing new individuals who will not only continue to honor the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, but who are also steadfast supporters of the State of Israel.”
